I really like this picture because it looks like this huge obstacle in our path when really it is a small pine cone. It gives you a feel for how bugs see things that humans think of as small, and that is really cool way to look at things. It isn't very often you get to see the world from the perspective of something so small so it's pictures like this that are real eye openers.
I've always liked fall. I was never one for the happiness or all the colours that come with summer. The darkness of this picture is something I find a lot of comfort in and I'm honestly very proud of this picture. Some may say that this picture is much too dark but in my opinion it it gets my point across extremely well.
I really like the way this picture came out because it can give off so many different emotions depending on who is viewing it. Some may see this picture as a representation of loneliness, while others may see it as something a little quirky. Isn't perspective what art is all about, anyway?
I had a hard time with this challenge, I'm not going to lie. I am though, very pleased with how this photo came out. I believe that this photo is a good representation of the overall feeling at this time of year, with the soggy leaves and the whole darkness of the picture. Late October is the time of year where one really starts to set into routine after coming back from summer and the weather is truly beginning to change into fall and just a general gloom hangs in the air and this photo truly puts that feeling forward.
Sometimes the best memories are made when you venture from the marked path. This time, literally. Recently, my family and a group of some of my closest friends went camping at Othello Road and, as we do every year, all the kids took the drive down to the Othello Tunnels. These tunnels were built while Canada was attempting to connect "Sea to Shining Sea" with the Canadian Pacific Railroad, so as you can imagine, they aren't the most modern of places. When we went there the last time, a friend and I noticed that on the other side of the fence there was a path extending down over the hill and out of site. So we all did what you would expect a bunch of kids to do, we jumped the fence. The path ended up being way more of a workout than any of us expected, but when we finally got to the water, all that huffing and puffing became so worth it. The path ended where the rapids calmed down into a quaint little swimming hole and we all spent hours there just generally fooling around as kids do. Getting there, and being there, is a memory I will remember for the rest of my life.
I took this photo probably around 4-5 years ago at Boss Lake which is right around Merrit, BC. If I remember correctly we had gone up for thanksgiving weekend and it was the last night we were there. Mine and my friend's family always saves the sparklers and fireworks for the last night of camping so I believe that the sparkler burning out is a good visual representation of our time there.
